The Throttle Body of Toyota Matrix car is an important part which controls the supply of the air into the automobile motor in coordination interlinked with the fuel injecting system. Sitting between the air cleaner and intake manifold, it has a butterfly valve that opens and closes in accordance to the position of the accelerator pedal. Early models at one time may have incorporated Throttle Body Injection (TBI) which is a relatively primitive form of fuel injection with only one or two injectors situated over the throttle plates. However, the newer model vehicles impact utilization of a multi-port fuel injection system which is a different element from the throttle body. The process of installation includes attaching the air cleaner cap sub-assembly while securing its hose and tightening all air cleaner hose clamps. The service technician must connect the ventilation hose and the 2 vacuum hoses as well as the No. 1 vacuum switching valve connector in sequence along with the 2 wire harness clamps and mass air flow meter connector. Engine coolant should be added while checking for any leaking coolant. Afterward install the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly. The technician should disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal and wait at least 60 seconds before reconnection when any throttle body component replacement occurs or cleaning of the throttle body is performed. - Q: How to remove the throttle body assembly on Toyota Matrix?A:Engine coolant drainage must happen before starting the process of removing the throttle body assembly from a 2AZ-FE engine. First detach the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly. You must disconnect the mass air flow meter connector before you can separate the 2 wire harness clamps and disconnect the No. 1 vacuum switching valve connector and the 2 fuel vapor feed hoses and the ventilation hose to remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with hose. To extract the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with its hose the No. 1 air cleaner clamp should be loosened while releasing all 3 air cleaner assembly clamps before removal. Disconnect the throttle body assembly connector along with the throttle body hose and the 2 water by-pass hoses last. To proceed remove the throttle body assembly by taking off each of its 4 securing bolts and collecting the gasket from the Intake Manifold.
