The first step for removing the rear Air Bag sensor includes reading all precautionary measures before proceeding. Before reconnecting the negative terminal you should disconnect the cable and allow at least 90 seconds of waiting time to avert Air Bag activation. After reconnecting the cable some systems need to initialize before operation. Proceed with the sensor removal task by first removing the rear door scuff plate then disconnecting the rear door opening trim Weather Strip. First remove the deck board assembly followed by both deck board sub-assemblies numbered 3 and 2. Then dispose of the tonneau cover assembly (if equipped), a rear No. 1 floor board (if not equipped with rear No. 2 seat) and finally the rear seat side cover LH (if equipped with rear No. 2 seat). The work order requires the removal of the deck side trim box LH along with the rear seat side cover RH when using rear No. 2 seat before moving onto the jack carrier support followed by the jack carrier cushion and jack assembly before removing the jack carrier assembly. Finish by taking off the deck side trim box RH along with the rear mat and deck floor board assembly when using rear No. 2 seat. The technician should remove the rear deck floor box (unless the vehicle comes with rear No. 2 seats) along with the No. 1 deck board (both times depending on absence or presence of rear No 2 seats) and the No. 1 deck board (if rear No. 2 seats are present) along with rear No. 2 seat inner belt assembly (when rear No. 2 seats exist) while disconnecting the rear seat lap type belt assembly on both LH and RH sides if rear No. 2 seats are installed. Remove the rear No. 2 seat assembly (if equipped), rear floor finish plate, rear seat side garnish cap (for RH side without rear air conditioning system), rear seat side garnish cap (for RH side with rear air conditioning system), deck side trim cover, deck side trim, side trim cover LH (for LH side without rear seat entertainment system), power outlet socket bezel (for LH side with rear seat entertainment system), side trim cover RH (for RH side without rear automatic air conditioning system), rear room temperature sensor (for RH side with rear automatic air conditioning system), rear combination light service cover LH (for LH side), rear combination light service cover RH (for RH side), rear power point socket assembly (for LH side), rear power outlet socket cover (for LH side), rear deck trim cover (for LH side without remote folding function), reclining remote control bezel (for LH side with remote folding function), rope hook assembly, No. 2 deck side trim hook (for LH side), No. 1 luggage compartment trim hook (for RH side), front deck side trim cover, and disconnect the rear No. 1 seat outer belt assembly. To complete the sensor removal process disconnect the connector from the rear Air Bag sensor by carefully handling the Air Bag wire harness before removing the bolt while disengaging the pin (for LH side and RH side respectively). Always keep a firm hold on the sensor when loosening the bolt to protect the sensor pin from damage.
