Your installation of the 2ZR-FE engine camshaft requires first placing the valve lash adjuster assembly followed by the No. 1 valve rocker arm sub-assembly. Clean the surfaces of both No. 1 camshaft bearings before installation and verify their centering by measuring their distance between edges that should not exceed 0.7 mm (0.0276 in.). After clean installation of the No. 2 camshaft bearings you should position them according to a range of 1.05 to 1.75 mm (0.0413 to 0.0689 in.). Clean the camshaft journals before applying engine oil to journals, housings and bearing caps. Install the No. 2 then main camshaft after applying the oil treatment. Put engine oil on the camshaft bearing caps while maintaining proper placement of marks and numbers before tightening the 10 bolts to 16 Nm (163 kgf-cm, 12 ft-lbf). The camshaft housing sub-assembly should receive seal packing with a diameter of 3.5 to 4.0 mm (0.138 to 0.158 in.) in a continuous bead while the installation must occur within 3 minutes and bolt tightening should be done within 15 minutes. Engine start-up must wait at least two hours after assembly completion. The knock pin must be securely positioned before aligning the gear without any force. When measuring the gap between the gear and camshaft flange it should be between 0.1 to 0.4 mm (0.004 to 0.016 in.) then torque the flange bolt to 54 Nm (551 kgf-cm, 40 ft-lbf). Perform the same procedure for the camshaft timing exhaust gear assembly with no clearance permitted and gear locked into position. Install the chain vibration dampers and all subsequent sub-assemblies including crankshaft pulley followed by No. 1 chain tensioner assembly and cylinder head cover sub-assembly. Finally, install the radio setting condenser, thermostat, inlet water, inlet water hose, water by-pass hose, No. 1 water by-pass pipe, connect the No. 3 water by-pass hose, install the ventilation hose, inspect and install the
Exhaust Manifold, manifold stay, No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator, oil level dipstick sub-assembly,
Ignition Coil assembly,
Fuel Injector assembly, No. 1 delivery pipe spacer, fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly, fuel tube sub-assembly,
Intake Manifold, remove the engine stand, and install the engine assembly with transaxle.
