The service dept. of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. needs to be informed if problems occur when deploying the SRS Air Bag in vehicles through the specified Special Service Tool (SRS Air Bag Deployment Tool) before disposal of scrap vehicles or front seat Air Bag assemblies. Dispose of a front seat Air Bag assembly only when it has been deployed because an undeployed Air Bag should always remain intact. Deployment should happen outside due to the loud explosion that services as an alert to others. The operation to deploy the Air Bag must be conducted at least 10 m (33 ft) away from electrical noise and 10 m (33 ft) away from the assembly. Deploy the Air Bag using the SRS tool while wearing protective gloves and safety glasses. The dealer must inspect the deployed Air Bag by itself for at least 30 minutes before touching it. Use the power source battery before checking the Special Service Tool function then cut off the front seat Air Bag connector maintaining safety for the Air Bag wire harness before establishing the Special Service Tool 09082-00700 and tool 09082-00750 attachment to the connector without activating the secondary lock. Adjust the Special Service Tool to a minimum distance of at least 10 m (33 ft) from the vehicle before connecting the red clip to the battery positive (+) terminal and black clip to the battery negative (-) terminal when all doors and windows are secured. Before activating the Air Bag system ensure the vehicle compartment as well as all areas 10 m (33 ft) from it are empty of humans then activate the switch to simultaneously deploy the Air Bag while turning on the LED lighting. The front seat Air Bag assembly requires disposal after deployment while maintaining hand cleaning with water then refraining from wetting the deployed Air Bag assembly. During vehicle scrapping deploy the Air Bag before continuing with disposal of the vehicle containing intact front seat Air Bag assembly.
