Heater Core Scion xB is one of the features of the climate control system of vehicles Scion xB, characterized by reliability and the top level of performance. This is a basic component that effectively dissapates excess heat from the engine to the cabin making the car comfortable to drive esp during very cold weather. Made of aluminum or brass the Heater Core is designed with fins that help to transfer heat and a fan that circulates warm air to the interior of the car. While all models of Scion xB have heater cores' designs, the latest systems apply electromechanical actuators as well as thermistors to enable precise temperature control, not to mention dual climate control in some models. Hence, understanding the importance of Heater Core goes beyond mere luxury since it is an essential part of the car's efficiency and safety by regulating cabin temperature. Possible problems include blockages, fluid loss, and metal wear and tear; however, these drawbacks are not very frequent as the layout of the Heater Core allows avoiding them as much as possible and will serve as the proof of the car's reliability. However, the Scion xB has gotten good safety ratings; it only shows the need to have a functional heater core in order to drive safely. Due to these aspects and the suitability to other models of the xB line, Heater Core serves as one of the most important components in the Scion xB cars.

Scion xB Heater Core Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the heater core on Scion xB?
    A:
The first step for heater radiator assembly replacement requires cable removal from the battery terminal followed by a minimum 90-second wait period to deactivate Air Bag systems and seat belt pretensioners. First remove engine coolant at drain points before releasing refrigerant from the system and then disconnect suction hose sub-assembly and liquid tube sub-assembly to heater water inlet hose and heater water outlet hose by using pliers to release the inlet hose clip. Remove the instrument panel sub-assembly followed by the lower instrument panel assembly and ECM component before moving to air conditioning blower assembly and amplifier assembly and defroster nozzle assembly through clip disconnection and 2 claw detachment after which the defroster damper control cable sub-assembly needs outer and inner cable disconnect followed by the same procedure for air mix damper control cable sub-assembly. The heater radiator assembly removal process begins by disconnecting the rear No. 2 and No. 1 air ducts before you detach the 3 connectors and remove the bolt with ground wire from the PTC heater and unscrew the 2 nuts. Begin installation by putting the heater radiator assembly together using its 2 nuts then join the PTC heater ground wire and restore the 3 connectors. After connecting the rear ends of the No. 1 and No. 2 air ducts you must install the air mix damper control cable sub-assembly with its cables and then perform the same task for the defroster damper control cable sub-assembly. The defroster nozzle assembly needs 2 claw attachments before installing the clip followed by the air conditioning amplifier assembly before finishing with the air conditioning blower assembly and lower instrument panel sub-assembly and instrument panel assembly in sequence. Use the same assembly method to connect the heater water outlet hose with the inlet hose while you also reconnect the liquid tube sub-assembly before connecting the suction hose sub-assembly followed by the negative battery terminal connection. After reconnecting the negative battery terminal users must verify the SRS warning light before adding engine coolant followed by refrigerant charging and engine temperature normalizing then conducting inspections of engine coolant and refrigerant leakages.
