2010 Toyota Yaris Exhaust Pipe Parts Q&A
Q: How to install the exhaust pipe assembly on 2010 Toyota Yaris?
A: The installation of the exhaust pipe assembly begins with the tail section where the Hatchback requires 2 No. 4 exhaust pipe supports but the Sedan needs 3 No. 4 supports which should properly fit the pipe retaining support. Free compression spring length checks using vernier calipers should be performed for the front exhaust pipe assembly to verify 40.5 mm (1.594 in.) minimum length for the front side and 38.5 mm (1.516 in.) for the rear side. Replace the compression spring if any of these specifications are not met. Application of the new exhaust pipe gasket requires a plastic hammer and wooden block to assure the correct direction while creating full contact between the exhaust manifold. Avoid damaging the gasket surface and reuse and prevent gasket compression by the pipe during installation. First install new No. 4 exhaust pipe supports then add the exhaust front pipe assembly using a fresh gasket, four compression springs and tightening the four bolts to 43 Nm (439 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf). Re-check the No. 4 exhaust pipe supports after completion. Proceed to install the heated oxygen sensor, the lower LH instrument pad for the Sedan, the rear console box assembly, the console box carpet, the rear console cover for the Hatchback, the upper rear panel sub-assembly for the Sedan, the shifting hole cover sub-assembly for the Hatchback Manual Transaxle, the upper console panel sub-assembly for the Sedan, the shift lever knob sub-assembly for the Manual Transaxle, the finish panel end LH for the Sedan, and the lower center finish panel for the Sedan. The cable needs to be fastened around the negative battery terminal at a torque of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). A systematic check for exhaust gas leakage must follow.
