2010 Scion xD A/C Compressor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the A/C Compressor on 2010 Scion xD?
A: The removal process for the 2ZR-FE engine HVAC compressor requires refrigerant recovery from the refrigeration system at the beginning. Proceed to remove the engine under cover on the right-hand side then take off the No. 2 cylinder head cover. Disassemble the fan and generator V belt from its position. The procedure to disconnect the No. 1 cooler refrigeration system hose begins with removing bolt and hose connections from the compressor unit and removing the O-ring from the discharge hose while applying vinyl tape to seal off disconnected hose openings to prevent moisture and foreign matter entry. The compressor maintenance includes repeated hose procedures for the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose where you detach compressor bolts and hose connections while obtaining the O-ring to seal openings using vinyl tape. Terminate the compressor operation by disconnecting the connector along with two clamps after unbolt two nuts and removing two bolts while using a "TORX" socket wrench (E8) to extract the compressor and its two stud bolts.
