2009 Scion xD Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the A/C Compressor on 2009 Scion xD?
A: The first step to remove an air conditioning compressor for the 2ZR-FE engine requires recovering all refrigerant material from the refrigeration system. Start by uninstalling both the engine under cover RH and then proceed to remove the No. 2 cylinder head cover. The next step requires removing the fan alongside the generator V belt. You need to disconnect the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose by removing its bolt and O-ring then seal the opened ends of both parts with vinyl tape to protect from moisture and foreign matter contamination. Follow this sequence for the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose and remove its bolt as well as O-ring before using vinyl tape to seal open ends. Use a "TORX" socket wrench (E8) to remove the two stud bolts and the compressor after first detaching its connector and two clamps and then removing the two bolts and two nuts.
