- Q: How to install the A/C Compressor on 2009 Scion xD?A: The first step for installing the 2ZR-FE HVAC compressor requires you to adjust the compressor oil level through careful helium gas draining from the service valve and targeted venting of oil while maintaining the necessary ratio between new compressor oil capacity (90 (+15) cc (3 (+0.51) fl.oz.)) and the amount of oil in drained compressors. Use oil type ND-OIL8 or equivalent Use compressor oil with specification of ND-OIL8 or equivalent. Use a "TORX" socket wrench (E8) to install the compressor by fastening the 2 stud bolts at 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf) torque before securing it with 2 bolts and 2 nuts tightened to 25 Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf). Maintain the specified tightening sequence for installation. Connect the connector and 2 clamps. The installation of the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose requires removal of vinyl tape along with the application of compressor oil to the fitting surface and new O-ring before installation of the suction hose onto the compressor using a bolt torqued to 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf). The same procedure must be done for the No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose. The procedure requires installing the fan and generator V belt followed by an adjustment check before placing on the No. 2 cylinder head cover. After system charging with refrigerant the technician should let the engine heat to operating temperature while inspecting for leakage then completing the installation of the engine under cover RH.
