2008 Scion xD A/C Compressor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the A/C Compressor on 2008 Scion xD?
A: The first step to remove the air conditioning compressor for 2ZR-FE engine models requires refrigerant recovery from the refrigeration system. Start by removing the engine under cover RH and immediately proceed with removing the No. 2 cylinder head cover. After disconnecting both fans and generators you need to remove their V belt. The No. 1 cooler refrigerant discharge hose requires removal of the bolt to disconnect it from the compressor and extraction of its O-ring afterward. Afterwards, use vinyl tape to cover each disconnected part opening for moisture and foreign matter protection. The removal procedure should be performed on the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose by first removing the bolt then disconnecting the hose before removing the O-ring and properly sealing the hose opening. The procedure for removing the compressor requires compressor connector disconnection along with 2 clamp release followed by bolt removal and nut removal to expose the 2 stud bolts that can be extracted using a "TORX" socket wrench (E8).
