• Q: How to install the water pump assembly on 2010 Scion xB?

  A: You need to prepare the installation of a 2AZ-FE water pump assembly by clearing seal packing material from the contact surface before applying continuous seal packing material with standard 2.2 to 2.5 mm (0.09 to 0.10 in.) diameter through Toyota Genuine Seal Parking Black, Three Bond 1207B or equivalent. The contact surface needs to be free of oil residue before applying seal packing. The assembled parts must receive the seal packing within 3 minutes; failure to do so requires the material removal to apply again. After installing the water pump and clamp bracket with 4 bolts and 2 nuts the torques should be at 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf) then the crankshaft position sensor wire connects to the clamp bracket while the crankshaft position sensor clamp mounts onto the water pump. The installation of the water pump pulley requires Special Service Tools (09960-10010 09962-01000 09963-00700) to fasten it with 4 bolts at 26 Nm (265 kgf-cm, 19 ft-lbf) torque. After assembly of the generator components proceed to set the fan and generator V belt into position. Weld the cable onto the negative battery terminal with a torque reaching 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm and 48 in-lbf) before adding engine coolant and checking for leaks. Under the last step install the rear engine under cover RH together with the No. 1 engine under cover.
