2010 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the drive belt on 2010 Scion xB?
A: The process of drive belt removal starts by taking off the rear engine under cover from the right-hand side of the 2AZ-FE engine. The V-ribbed belt tensioner arm can be loosened by clockwise rotation using Special Service Tool: 09216-42010, 09216-04010 along with a 19 mm socket wrench before removing the fan and generator V belt. The Special Service Tool needs proper attachment along with other tools in a sequential manner when using them. Turn the tensioner in a clockwise direction at a slow pace for three seconds when removing it while avoiding any aggressive force application. Continue the pulling motion on the tensioner only until it reaches the completely retracted position. Additional force should be avoided at this stage.
