• Q: How to remove the Vacuum Brake Booster on 2010 Scion xB?

  A: The first step when removing the Vacuum Brake Booster includes draining all brake fluid then cleaning any paint from fluid contact. The first step starts with removing the windshield wiper arm cover then proceeding to disassemble the front wiper arm and blade assembly from both sides. First remove the hood to cowl top seal then detach the cowl top ventilator louver on both sides after removing the front wiper motor and link. The next step involves taking out both the outer cowl top panel along with the air cleaner assembly. The manual transaxle clutch reservoir tube must be disconnected before removing the brake master cylinder sub-assembly together with the brake actuator assembly. Next you should remove the instrument panel finish lower panel sub-assembly followed by separating the brake master cylinder push rod clevis. To extract the brake booster assembly first remove the brake booster vacuum hose from the check valve through deploying the clip and then remove the four nuts before taking out the brake booster assembly respecting all brake tubes. Start by taking off the gasket from the brake booster assembly then untighten the push rod lock nut to disconnect the push rod clevis. The brake vacuum check valve assembly requires removal of both components and the grommet from the brake booster assembly.
