2010 Scion xB Blower Motor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and replace the blower motor on 2010 Scion xB?
A: The procedure for blower motor replacement starts by facing the front wheels straight ahead then disconnecting the negative cable from the battery terminal while waiting for at least 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag deployment. After retrieving the refrigerant from the refrigeration system users should detach the suction pipe sub-assembly along with air conditioning tube and accessory assembly, heater outlet water hose, and heater inlet water hose. Remove the front door opening trim Weather Strip (RH and LH), front pillar garnish (RH and LH), instrument cluster finish center panel sub-assembly, instrument cluster finish lower panel, instrument cluster finish panel assembly, combination meter assembly, glove compartment door assembly, upper instrument panel sub-assembly, front door scuff plates (RH and LH), cowl side trim boards (RH and LH), shift lever knob sub-assembly (for Manual Transaxle), instrument cluster finish center lower panel, front console box inserts (No. 1 and No. 2), instrument panel finish lower panel, and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly (for both Manual and Automatic Transaxle) before removing the shift lever assembly. Begin by separating the air conditioning panel followed by disconnecting heater control cable members and removing the switch hole base as well as instrument panel finish lower sub-assembly, sub reinforcement, radio bracket, and instrument cluster finish panel seal. The technician should disconnect the hood lock control lever sub-assembly from the antenna cord sub-assembly before proceeding to remove the lower instrument panel sub-assembly and steering pad while also taking out the steering wheel assembly, steering column cover, turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly and column hole cover silencer sheet along with the steering column assembly. Start by removing three rear air ducts numbered 1, 2 and 3 followed by the lower defroster nozzle assembly. Proceed to separte the center instrument panel to cowl brace and No. 1 air duct sub-assembly. Continue by separating the relay block assembly then taking out the instrument panel brace sub-assembly along with disconnecting the drain cooler hose. The instrument panel reinforcement assembly (for Manual and Automatic Transaxle) and both air conditioning unit and No. 2 air duct sub-assembly require removal before extracting the blower assembly through 3 screws.
