2009 Toyota RAV4 Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the front crankshaft seal on 2009 Toyota RAV4?
A: Before installing the front crankshaft seal on a 2AR-FE engine you must apply MP grease to the lip of the new oil seal while ensuring both foreign matter stays away from the lip and MP grease maintains a distance from the dust seal. The Special Service Tool: 09223-22010 along with a hammer helps install the oil seal by tapping it towards the timing chain cover edge until it reaches flush position but maintain the lip clear of foreign material and tap only in a straight direction. Install the crankshaft pulley and then add the fan along with generator V belt followed by the front suspension member reinforcement RH. After installing the reservoir for the radiator complete the installation of the radiator support opening cover. Verify the engine oil level before conducting a search for any engine oil leakages. Finish the installation process by placing first the rear engine under cover RH and after that the No. 1 engine under cover.
