2009 Toyota RAV4 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the Clock Spring assembly on 2009 Toyota RAV4?
A: The installation of the clock spring assembly requires straightened front wheels and a turn signal switch in neutral position to avoid pin damage. You should install the clock spring while also removing the lock pin if you need a new one and then attach the connectors to the cable without hurting the Air Bag wire harness. Secure four clips on the upper column cover before putting in the upper steering column cover. Set the 4 claws into place for mounting the lower steering column cover. To properly position the clock spring rotate it counterclockwise while holding it by hand until resistance is felt then fix it by rotating clockwise two and a half times without using the Air Bag wire harness for this adjustment. The next steps include setting the steering wheel assembly next to the steering pad assembly followed by the negative battery terminal cable connection. An inspection must occur for the steering pad assembly while verifying that the SRS warning light shows appropriate signs of operation. Check the steering wheel position as the last step.
