2009 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the radiator on 2009 Toyota Matrix?
A: The installation process starts with securing the fan shroud on the radiator assembly by using 2 bolts tightened to 7.0 Nm (71 kgf-cm, 62 in-lbf). Begin by installing the automatic transaxle oil cooler hose with 2 bolts reaching 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf) torque value while connecting the clamp to the fan shroud followed by connecting the oil cooler hoses to the radiator. The next steps include installing the 2 lower radiator supports and radiator assembly with fan shroud while preventing forceful interaction with cooler condenser assemblies and pipes when air conditioning system is present. Connect both the cooling fan motor connector wires while securing the wire harness clamp. Attain the 2 claws and apply the No. 2 fan shroud to the radiator assembly by using 2 bolts tightened to 7.0 Nm (71 kgf-cm, 62 in-lbf). Install the sub-assembly by using 4 bolts that should be torqued at 5.5 Nm (56, 49 in-lbf) and then hook up the horn connector. After the installation of 2 bolts on the hood lock support sub-assembly that require a 7.0 Nm (71 kgf-cm, 62 in-lbf) torque a water by-pass hose gets secured using 2 clamps to connect with the radiator assembly. Fasten the hood lock assembly and mount each of the 2 radiator support cushions to their respective upper radiator supports through 2 bolts which should be torqued to 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf). Complete the automatic transaxle oil cooler hose connection while also uniting the No. 2 radiator hose to the radiator assembly with a clamp together with the No. 1 radiator hose and clamp and the radiator reservoir tank hose connected to the radiator assembly with a clamp. Install the thermistor assembly before placing the battery in position then connect the cable to the negative battery terminal. Engine coolant should be added before checking for any coolant-leakage points. The final task involves installing the front bumper while exclusively using the front spoiler if present or omitting it. If equipped with fog lights, the vehicle needs preparation for adjustment before inspecting and adjusting the aim. Engineers must then install the under engine covers on each right and left side.
