  • Q: How to remove and replace the oil cooler on 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser?
    A: The oil cooler replacement starts with disconnection of the negative battery cable allowing a minimum 90-second delay of the SRS system operation. The technician must first remove the front fender splash shield sub-assembly LH and RH and next remove the No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly. The technician needs to drain engine oil and engine coolant before removing the V-bank cover sub-assembly. After deinstalling the fan and generator V belt you should proceed with the removal of the oil filter element along with the oil pressure sender gauge assembly. To begin, users should disconnect the cooler compressor assembly followed by removing the No. 2 water by-pass pipe sub-assembly through the removal of 3 bolts and disconnecting its 4 hoses. Detach the No. 1 oil cooler bracket after removing its 2 nuts and bracket and disconnect the ground wire attached to the cylinder block. To perform the following operation break free the oil filter bracket with removal of two bolts along with two nuts and filter bracket followed by the removal of two O-rings. Finish the oil cooler replacement by removing the 5 nuts and oil cooler from the oil filter bracket, extracting the 2 O-rings and finally dismantling the oil cooler spacer when you take off the bolt and oil cooler spacer from the oil filter bracket together with the gasket.
