2008 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install the oil cooler and complete the associated assembly steps on 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Install the new gasket on the oil cooler spacer after applying engine oil to its surface. Then secure the oil cooler spacer to the oil filter bracket while tightening a bolt to 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf). Before securing the oil cooler with 5 nuts to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf), first apply engine oil to 2 new O-rings which should be installed onto the oil cooler. Begin with engine oil application on 2 new O-rings before installation to the timing chain cover. Then mount the oil filter bracket with 2 nuts and 2 bolts that need 35 Nm (357 kgf-cm, 26 ft-lbf) torque. Use a cylinder block as the ground wire attachment point before fastening the No. 1 oil cooler bracket with 2 nuts at 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). Screw the three bolts for securing the No. 2 water by-pass pipe sub-assembly hoses with 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf) torque. Connect the cooler compressor system before installing the oil pressure sender gauge device and the new oil filter element. Apply the fan and generator V belt before installing the V-bank cover sub-assembly. After adding engine oil and coolant you should install the battery cable onto the negative terminal. Implement inspections for oil and coolant leaks before you install the No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly and both front fender splash shield sub-assemblies on their respective left and right sides.
