2009 Toyota Corolla Knock Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the knock sensor on 2009 Toyota Corolla?
A: The procedure for knock sensor replacement in the 2ZR-FE engine requires draining the engine coolant first. Begin with removing the No. 2 cylinder head cover and then disconnect the air cleaner cap sub-assembly. Start by disconnecting the throttle body connector before working on the two water by-pass hoses while also separating the wire harness clamp then removing the bolt and wire harness bracket. The process requires users to disconnect all components starting from the two hoses through the ventilation hose before removing each of the two wire harness clamps. The procedure requires removal of the four bolts and two nuts to detach the intake manifold stay together with the intake manifold and throttle body while also removing the gasket attached to the intake manifold. Running the process entails breaking the connection to the knock sensor and removing the bolt and knock sensor itself from the system.
