- Q: How to remove and replace the Rack And Pinion on 2009 Toyota Camry?A: The procedure to remove and install the power steering link starts with facing the front wheels straight ahead while disconnecting the negative battery cable. You must first position the front wheels straight ahead before using the seat belt to immobilize the steering wheel because this technique protects the spiral cable from harm. Use a wrench to remove the bolt then pull out the steering sliding yoke which should stay as a single unit with the power steering link assembly along with a record of original positions. The tie rod assembly LH separation begins when technicians remove its cotter pin and nut followed by tool attachment using Special Service Tool: 09628-00011 to disconnect it from the steering knuckle. They must handle the tool correctly to avoid dropping it and protecting both the front disc brake dust cover along with ball joint dust cover and steering knuckle. Repeating these steps must be performed on the tie rod assembly RH as well. Follow engine-type instructions to remove the engine assembly combined with transaxle. Apply Special Service Tool: 09023-12701 to detach the pressure feed tube assembly from the power steering link assembly through both return tube side and pressure feed tube side where the removal of two bolts enables separation of the pressure feed tube clamp. The power steering link assembly demands two bolts and two nuts removal from separate sections while avoiding nut turning due to its built in stopper before removing the rack and pinion housing heat insulator from the power steering link assembly for 2GR-FE.
