2009 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install a Power Steering Pump on 2009 Toyota Avalon?
A: First tighten two bolts of the vane pump assembly to 43 Nm while securing them with 439 kgf-cm (32 ft-lbf) torque and attach the connector to the power steering oil pressure switch. The installation process requires placing a new gasket on the pressure feed tube assembly followed by attaching it to the vane pump assembly through the union bolt which needs a torque setting of 52 Nm (525 kgf-cm, 38 ft-lbf). Make sure to tighten the bolt only after confirming the stopper of the pressure feed tube assembly meets the vane pump assembly. Use the pressure feed tube clamp together with its bolt to mount it with a torque setting of 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf). Place the pump hose No.1 onto the oil reservoir using its clip. Insert the generator V belt and fan followed by front fender apron seal RH and right-hand front wheel before finishing the installation process. Complete power steering fluid bleeding followed by a check for leaks needs to be performed.
