  A: The first step of power steering vane pump disassembly requires establishing the vane pump assembly in a vise through the use of Special Service Tools: 09630-00014 09631-00132. First remove the bolt along with the power steering suction port union from the assembly before extracting its O-ring and power steering pressure port union with its O-ring. Remove the pressure port union by itself next to its O-ring after which separate the flow control valve from the compression spring. Separate the power steering oil pressure switch from the vane pump housing using a screwdriver to remove its O-ring because switch replacement will be necessary if the switch shows damage. Drain the vane pump housing by disconnecting both its 4 bolts and its rear housing O-ring. Use two screwdrivers to succeed in removing the snap ring before extracting the sub-assembly from the pulley shaft.
