2009 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the rear Brake Line on 2009 Scion xB?
A: The installation of the rear brake flexible hose requires connecting it by screwing in the bolt with a new clip before tightening it to 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf). To install the front brake hose positioning should start by placing the identification mark towards the vehicle interior while reducing hose twists until the clip fully engages in place. Connect the two brake tubes to the flexible hose with a tape wrench. Hold the hose with a second wrench to deliver torque at 15 Nm without the union nut wrench but at 14 Nm with it. Implement the attachment through a 300 mm (11.8 in.) torque wrench along with a 22 mm (0.886 in.) union nut wrench that maintains a parallel position to the torque wrench to produce the specified torque. Connect the flexible hose with the supply end mounted unperturbed by lubricant and install a new gasket as you tighten the union bolt to 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf), and finish by tightening the new clip until it rests in place. The brake tube connection to the flexible hose should happen a second time through the use of a union nut wrench just like the first time but applying identical torque measurements. The process requires filling the brake fluid reservoir then performing bleeds on the master cylinder and brake line before the brake actuator while checking fluid level in the reservoir and inspecting for brake fluid leaks. Before finishing install the rear wheel through a torque application of 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf).
