2009 Scion tC Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the front speed sensor on the LH side on 2009 Scion tC?
A: Begin the installation of the LH-side front speed sensor by screwing its bolt and tightening it to 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf). It is essential to maintain both the installation hole and the sensor tip void of any foreign elements. The speed sensor requires attachment to the body with two bolts where the first bolt needs 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf) torque and the second bolt needs 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf) torque. Attach the clamp after properly connecting the sensor connector. First, install the front fender liner on the left hand side of the vehicle before adding the front wheel while torquing it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf). After reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal please note that system initialization could be needed if your system is among those which mandate it after reconnection. To verify proper performance check the speed sensor signal of the ABS system.
