• Q: How to install the clutch master cylinder assembly on 2009 Scion tC?

  A: Two nuts attached to the clutch master cylinder assembly need torquing at 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). Secure the clutch pedal to the clevis assembly by using the hole pin from the right side of the vehicle. First apply MP grease to the hole pin and clevis bush contact surfaces before installation. Attach the flexible hose tube from the clutch master cylinder with Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 and tighten it to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf). Secure the red mark on the clip during tube installation to mount the clutch reservoir onto the clutch master cylinder vertically. The technician should place the brake booster assembly together with the brake master cylinder sub-assembly. Bleeding should be done on both brake and clutch pipe lines after brake reservoir filling with brake fluid while torquing the lines to 8.4 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 74 in-lbf). To ensure safe operation of the system you must check and set brake pedal height while inspecting and adjusting the clutch pedal components and look for any brake fluid leakage in both systems.
