2008 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the exhaust manifold on 2008 Toyota Tundra?
A: The correct installation direction of the exhaust manifold for the 1GR-FE engine requires placing the new gasket on the left-hand cylinder head with the oval shape oriented toward the back. Fasten the exhaust manifold with 6 new nuts while torquing them to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). Afterward install the No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator through use of 3 bolts and torque them to 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf). The correct installation direction of the oval-shaped gasket on the right-hand cylinder head must also be followed before securing it with 6 new nuts at 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). The front exhaust pipe assembly installation should be followed by the front No. 2 exhaust pipe assembly for the Regular Cab Standard Deck, but installations should be completed for models except this standard deck configuration. Placement of the air switching valve assembly follows the pipe installation procedures. Users should connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery while systems that need initialization after power restoration will have particular requirements.
