2008 Toyota Tundra Axle Shaft Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to reassemble the rear axle shaft on 2008 Toyota Tundra?
A: You should install new deflector gaskets and deflectors on the rear axle shaft while maintaining proper alignment of the two oil drain holes. Adjust five new hub bolts with washers and nuts for temporary fastening before tightening them against the bolts before removing the washer and nut. Set the parking brake plate onto a new rear axle hub with bearing secured on and operate a press by using two socket wrenches to drive in the four housing bolts. Secure the bearing through the press that uses Special Service Tool: 09631-12090 09726-40010 so that the rear axle shaft installs with the washer underneath and the new retainer on top. Ensure the bearing remains properly fitted. To finish the procedure install a new snap ring through the use of a snap ring expander.
