2008 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Vapor Canister on 2008 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The first step to remove the Evaporative Emission Control Canister requires fuel system pressure discharge. Start by removing power from the negative cable before removing both fuel tank main tube and fuel tank return tube connections. Start by removing the fuel tank assembly after which Charcoal Canister Filter No. 2 can be extracted through four steps: bolt, ABS wire harness clamp removal from the charcoal canister followed by EVAP pipe hose clamp release until the breather hose disconnects from both pipe and canister before removing the filter nut. The removal process of the Charcoal Canister Assembly requires workers to disconnect the connector along with the EVAP tube before removing the bolt and two nuts to extract the charcoal canister and pinching the retainer before drawing out the fuel tank vent hose connector. The cleaning of the fuel tank vent hose connector should be performed while the hose is free of all dirt and you must work by hand without tools while protecting all parts from scratches and avoid creating any bending movement of the nylon tubing. The disconnected fuel tank vent hose should be covered by a vinyl bag before proceeding to operating the fuel vent connector and pipe if they get stuck.
