The procedure to service and repair the throttle body of a 2TR-FE engine starts with disconnecting the battery cable from its negative terminal. The No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly should be eliminated on 4WD and Pre-Runner versions before continuing. The service engineer starts by draining the engine coolant before continuing with the intake air connector removal process by disconnecting pressure sensor connector then disengaging wire harness clamp and disconnecting vacuum hoses while removing No. 2 ventilation hose, another vacuum hose, and 3 bolts to remove the intake air connector. First disconnect the water by-pass hose and then remove the throttle with motor body assembly by disconnecting the No. 2 water by-pass hose, releasing the throttle motor connector, untightening the 2 bolts and 2 nuts before extracting the throttle with motor body. Take off the gasket located on the intake manifold.
