2008 Toyota Tacoma Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to disassemble the hydraulic brake booster with VSC on 2008 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The hydraulic brake booster disassembly requires starting with No. 1 brake actuator bracket removal through hexagon wrench (5 mm) screw extraction followed by disconnecting the fluid level warning switch connector with a screwdriver. Disassembly of the brake master cylinder reservoir sub-assembly starts with removing the screw and continuing with pin punch extraction of the pin which allows the reservoir to be removed while the 3 grommets and cap also need to be extracted. You should detach the brake actuator hose No. 1 by sliding its 2 clips with needle-nose pliers before removing the hose. Detach the brake actuator tube No. 1 through the use of a union nut wrench. The procedure for brake booster separation with accumulator pump involves first unscrewing two plugs with a screwdriver followed by removing two screws as you separate the wire harness and then disconnecting the assembly with its clip. Begin by using the hexagon wrench (4 mm) to pull the two pins from the assembly. After that detach the two bushes then the two collars and the whole assembly. The brake actuator bracket needs removal through screw deinstallation with a 5 mm hexagon wrench. Users require a hexagon wrench (5 mm) with which to remove the 2 screws on the brake booster pump bracket before detaching the bush part. Remove the rod operating adapter through brake master cylinder lock nut relaxation and then separate the push rod clevis through its lock nut. The piston extraction requires pressuring it in with a screwdriver and using a pin or equivalent to push the C-ring from the master cylinder body which is followed by removal of the snap ring with another screwdriver. Pull the piston directly out following procedures for safe bore maintenance while protecting the rubber lips present on the piston for the next assembly. Before moving on to the next step, remove the master cylinder solenoid by eliminating its 6 bolts followed by the solenoid and gasket. The brake booster accumulator assembly requires securing the brake booster with accumulator pump assembly in a vise with a cloth before using a socket wrench (17 mm) to remove brake booster accumulator then brake booster accumulator pipe, compression spring and O-ring.
