2008 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to disassemble the Power Steering Pump on 2008 Toyota Sienna?
A: The power steering vane pump disassembly process begins with clamp installation of the vane pump assembly into a vise using Special Service Tools: 09630-00014 and 09631-00132. Accordingly remove the bolt that holds the power steering suction port union to the vane pump front housing then exploit a screwdriver to extract the O-ring from the power steering suction port union. The power steering fluid pressure switch needs replacement from its position in the vane pump front housing. Start by removing the pressure port union from the vane pump front housing followed by the O-ring from the pressure port union then proceed to remove the flow control valve assembly together with its compression spring. Screwdriver removal of the O-ring from the rear housing requires careful application as you tape the screwdriver tip before proceeding. Two screwdrivers are needed to eliminate the vane pump shaft snap ring from the system before pulling out the vane pump shaft along with the pulley assembly. Disassemble the vane pump by taking out its ten plates followed by the rotor from the back. To proceed with the disassembly use a screwdriver and take out the vane pump cam ring from the front housing followed by the vane pump front side plate while using a screwdriver to extract the O-ring from both components. Using a screwdriver together with a shop rag or cloth remove the vane pump housing oil seal from the front housing by taking precaution against damaging its parts.
