2008 Toyota RAV4 Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the rear shock absorber assembly on the LH side on 2008 Toyota RAV4?
A: The installation process for the LH side rear shock absorber assembly requires first fixing the bracket to the shock absorber through bolt and nut installation while finally tightening the nut and leaving the bolt in its position. Secure the shock absorber upper part to the suspension member through another bolt and nut but keep the nut stationary while gripping the bolt. Use two bolts to install the shock absorber onto the axle carrier while torquing them to achieve 80 Nm (816 kgf-cm, 59 ft-lbf). Proceed by fixing a bolt and 2 nuts between the suspension arm along with the suspension member and axle carrier. Unite a temporary bolt to the rear upper control arm assembly LH. You should fit the rear wheel and torque it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf). Push the vehicle towards the floor several times to secure its suspension system then reinstall the shock absorber. Target the assembly of the rear shock absorber bolt by tightening it to 80 Nm (816 kgf-cm, 59 ft-lbf) while installing the nut. Adjust the rear wheel alignment for inspection.
