  • Q: How to install the water pump assembly on 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The water pump installation requires users to place a new gasket and tightly secure the water pump using 8 bolts which should be fastened to 47 Nm (479 kgf-cm, 35 ft-lbf) for bolt A and 23 Nm (235 kgf-cm, 17 ft-lbf) for bolt B and 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf) for bolt C. Use Special Service Tool: 09960-10010 09962-01000 to maintain the pulley stability when bolting it into place using 4 bolts while tightening them to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). Place the water pump gasket then attach the water inlet housing using three bolts and connect the No. 3 water by-pass hose with proper hose clamp orientation before torquing them to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). The air tube bracket bolt requires installation torque to 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf) along with the connection process for the No. 5 water by-pass hose, the air pump connector clamp holder, the wire harness clamp, and the air pump connector and No. 2 and No. 3 air hoses. Begin the install of the No. 2 water by-pass pipe sub-assembly with oil cooler by joining the water by-pass pipe to its water hose while securing the hose clamp in the right direction followed by torquing three bolts to 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf) and then connecting the No. 6 water by-pass hose. The technician should install the No. 1 water by-pass hose followed by the fan shroud before adding the No. 1 and No. 2 radiator hoses and the air cleaner assembly with its accompanying air cleaner hose assembly. A proper leak check is followed by V-bank cover sub-assembly installation together with No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly and front fender splash shield sub-assemblies for both left and right sides.
