2007 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the water pump on 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Service of the water pump requires users to disconnect the negative battery terminal cable and let it remains idle for 90 seconds before proceeding to avoid activating Air Bags and seat belt pretensioners. The technician must begin the service by taking off the No. 1 engine under cover and draining coolant before removing the V-bank cover sub-assembly and intake air connector pipe and cooler compressor assembly and drive belt along with radiator assembly and oil cooler pipe and timing belt. The water inlet housing can be removed next by detaching the by-pass hose and then removing the 2 bolts to disconnect the front water by-pass joint. Extract the water pump assembly by dissassembling the five bolts, two stud bolts, one nut, the water pump and gasket, which allows removal of the O-ring from the water by-pass pipe. An inspection of the water pump assembly must identify coolant leakage while checking if the pulley turns freely before making a replacement if needed. Make sure the fan bracket sub-assembly operates without resistance before replacing it if needed. Begin installation by mounting an O-ring onto the water by-pass pipe terminal followed by water soap treatment before water pump connection. The water pump installation requires mounting it with a new gasket through the 5 bolts and 2 stud bolts and nut while maintaining uniform torque. The water inlet housing requires cleaning before customers apply appropriate seal packing to the sealing groove while installing a new O-ring and securing the housing to front water by-pass joint tube with 2 bolts set to specified torque values. After installing the bolt for the No. 2 timing belt idler pulley sub-assembly you must add the timing belt then the oil cooler pipe before putting on the radiator assembly and drive belt followed by the cooler compressor assembly and the intake air connector pipe and V-bank cover sub-assembly. After adding engine coolant users must reinstall the engine under cover before reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal then initializing select systems and conducting a leak inspection for engine coolant.
