2008 Toyota Land Cruiser Radiator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the radiator on 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: Starting the radiator removal requires removing the upper radiator support seal followed by the radiator grille and front bumper cover. The removal of transmission oil cooler ducts requires detaching the air-cooled transmission oil cooler air duct through 4 bolt removal. Vehicles without air-cooled transmission oil cooler require the right and left side deflector removal through clip remover removal of 4 clips on each side. Starting with both left and right front fender splash shield sub-assemblies removal you should then separate the No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly. Remove engine coolant before removing both the V-bank cover sub-assembly and the air cleaner hose assembly. Start by removing the No.1 and No.2 radiator hoses after which the fan shroud can be taken off by unscrewing the 4 nuts holding the fluid coupling fan, following steps to remove the fan and generator V-belt along with the reservoir hose detachment from the upper radiator tank and disconnection of the flexible hose clamp using the claw tool if equipped with an air-cooled transmission oil cooler then removing the 2 bolts to disconnect the oil cooler tube from the fan shroud. Detach first the 2 holding bolts of the fan shroud before you remove its associated fluid coupling fan by undoing the 4 nuts attaching the fan to it. Additionally remove the shroud and fan coupling carefully without inflicting damage to the radiator core. The last step is fan pulley removal followed by 2 oil cooler hose separation before breaking the 4 bolts and extracting the radiator assembly.
