2009 Toyota Land Cruiser Radiator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to install the radiator assembly on 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The radiator installation requires users to set radiator bracket hooks into radiator support holes while bolt-fastening the radiator using 4 bolts at 18 Nm as the torque (184 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf). Afterward, users should connect both oil cooler hoses. Install the fan pulley afterward along with the coupling fan shroud positioned between radiator and engine while paying attention to avoid damaging the radiator core. Then screw 4 nuts to the fluid coupling bracket but keep them hand-tight until further instructions. The radiator shroud should be installed using 2 bolts which need to be torqued to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf) after attaching its claws to the radiator. Afterwards, connect the oil cooler tube to the fan shroud by using 2 bolts torqued to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf). Guidelines for air-cooled transmission oil coolers state that the hose requires passage through the flexible hose clamp before clamping it shut. Connect the reservoir hose to the upper radiator tank before installing the fan along with the generator V-belt while tightening the 4 nuts of the fluid coupling fan to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). Begin with radiator hose installation starting from No. 2 hose then continue with No. 1 hose before moving to the air cleaner hose assembly and the V-bank cover sub-assembly. The check and addition of engine coolant should follow a leak inspection procedure. Install the No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly before installing both left and right front fender splash shield sub-assemblies that require attachment of 4 clips per radiator side deflector. When installing the transmission oil cooler air duct you must secure it with 4 bolts at 4.9 Nm (50 kgf-cm, 43 in-lbf) torque specification. The installation sequence ends with fitting the front bumper cover alongside the radiator grille as well as the upper radiator support seal.
