How to install the parking brake cable on 2008 Toyota Highlander?

Start the installation by securing the No. 1 support bracket of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly. Thread the No. 3 parking brake cable parts at 2 bolt positions and tighten 4 nuts. Torque Bolt (A) to 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf), Bolt (B) to 39 Nm (397 kgf-cm, 29 ft-lbf), and all nuts to 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf). Fix the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the backing plate through 2 bolts that need to be tightened to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf). Fix the cable support bracket to the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly before inserting the parking brake cable support bracket to the same assembly. Secure the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly with 2 bolts plus 5 nuts. Bolt (A) receives 8.5 Nm torque and Bolt (B) obtains 39 Nm torque. The remaining 5 nuts need 6.0 Nm torque when joining to the backing plate with 2 bolts that require 8.0 Nm torque. Follow installation order with the No. 2 parking brake shoe assembly and shoe lever first, then return tension spring, No. 1 shoe assembly, shoe adjusting screw tool, No. 2 shoe assembly, shoe strut, No. 1 shoe assembly, and finally return tension spring. Proceed to install both the rear disc and caliper brake unit according to the specified 2WD and 4WD hardware procedures. Before stepping away switch the rear wheel in with a torque of 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm). Pass the braking cable through the parking brake pedal from its rear side and attach it afterward. Place the parking brake shoe discs through the brake pedal assembly and set them perfectly to brake pads before inspecting your brake warning system.
