How to install the parking brake cable on 2009 Toyota Highlander?

Attach the No. 1 parking brake cable support bracket first to the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly. Thread in the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly at 2 bolt points with 4 nuts before bolt torques of 8.5 Nm (87 kgf-cm, 75 in-lbf) for Bolt (A) and 39 Nm (397 kgf-cm, 29 ft-lbf) for Bolt (B) then each nut to 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf). Fasten the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly onto the backing plate with 2 bolts that need to be tightened to 8.0 Nm of torque (82 kgf-cm or 71 in-lbf). Fasten the parking brake cable support bracket to the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly and immediately attach the cable support bracket to the same assembly. Secure two bolts with five nuts at the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly. Bolt A needs 8.5 Nm torque and Bol B requires 39 Nm. Each nut should get 6.0 Nm. You can now attach the backing plate using two bolts at 8.0 Nm. Put on the shoe assembly number 2 and attach the lever followed by number 2 tension return spring. Next add the number 1 shoe assembly and parking brake adjusting screws. Finally connect number 2 shoe assembly. Put the parking brake shoe strut in place, then seat and guide the No. 1 parking brake shoe assembly. Lastly attach its return tension spring. Inspect and install the parking brake for both 2WD and 4WD models before putting on the rear disc and rear disc brake caliper. After torqueing the rear wheel at 103 Nm put the No. 1 parking brake cable through the pedal and fasten its clip. You can then add the adjusting nut temporarily to bend the parking brake pedal claw. Finish installation by putting the brake parking control assembly then prepare the brakes for service before testing both adjustment systems.
