2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser Water Pump Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the water pump on 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: The first step to remove the water pump begins with disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable. Begin by firstly taking out the fan then move to remove the V-bank cover followed by the air cleaner assembly. Then, remove the generator assembly. Begin at the water inlet removal by unplugging the 2 radiator hoses together with the 5 water by-pass hoses. Then unscrew the 5 bolts holding the water inlet before taking off the O-ring from the water outlet pipe and the gasket from the water pump. Start by removing the No. 2 idler pulley sub-assembly then split the cooler compressor assembly after that remove the V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly. The removal sequence continues with vane pump assembly decomposition followed by the extraction of the water pump assembly through bolt removal of its 17 nuts before both parts are fully detached.
