2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the radiator on 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: Starting with installing a new radiator tank you must tap the core plate using a soft-faced hammer to eliminate space between the core plate and radiator tank. The procedures for the lower radiator tank should follow those installed for the upper tank. The Special Service Tools 09230-01010, 09231-01010 and 09231-01020 should be assembled by threading the punch assembly through part A of the overhaul handle before setting stopper bolt dimension B to 8.4mm (0.331in.). Special Service Tool: 09230-01010 should be pressed gently against the core plate with a systematic order until the stopper bolt restricts the handle movement after doing several repetitions. Use pliers or equivalent tools instead of tapping the designated sections or oil cooler with the tool to safeguard the core plate from damage. To verify proper core plate caulking check that the H dimension is 8.7 to 9.1 mm (0.343 to 0.358 in.). A different procedure requires both readjusting the stopper bolt and additional caulking. The last step includes the installation of a new O-ring onto the drain cock plug before installing the drain cock plug.
