2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the radiator and its components on 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: The radiator installation process starts with automatic transmission inlet oil cooler hose attachment followed by the installation of No.1 radiator hose and No.2 hose. Position the radiator assembly and use 4 bolts to fasten it before torquing them to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf). The automatic transmission requires the attachment of two oil cooler hoses followed by installation of the two radiator hoses. After installation of the radiator grille you should place the fan shroud but only fasten it to the fluid coupling assembly and fan with 4 nuts. The installation of the fan and generator V belt requires fastening the fan pulley using four nuts which need torquing at 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf). The installation requires securing the fan shroud with its 2 bolts while torquing each bolt to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf). Fasten the reserve tank bolt at the same torque value while attaching the clamped oil cooler hoses to the reserve tank of the radiator. Span the 7 clips to attach the radiator support seal upper and use a 3.9 Nm torque (40 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf) for the cable connection to the negative battery terminal. Dosage of engine coolant should follow leak inspection. Afterward install the No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly together with V-bank cover.
