  • Q: How to install the radiator and its components on Toyota FJ Cruiser?
A: The radiator installation process requires users to install the automatic transmission inlet oil cooler hose first and then apply the No.1 and No.2 radiator hoses. You should install the radiator assembly with 4 bolts reaching 21 Nm torque strength (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf) before connecting automatic transmission oil cooler hoses and installing the radiator hoses. The radiator grille should be installed first while the fan shroud and fluid coupling assembly with the fan are securely held with four nuts. After installation of the fan V belt and generator V belt come the fan pulley installation with 4 nuts tightened to 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). Install the reserve tank bolt to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf) before tightening the fan shroud with 2 bolts which should be secured to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf). Place the bolt on the reserve tank with 5.0 Nm torque before attaching the 2 oil cooler hoses using clamps for both fittings and routing the hose to the radiator reserve tank. Secure the radiator support seal upper by following the installation of its 7 clips and connect the cable to the negative battery terminal while tightening to 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf). Engine coolant should be added first before inspecting for leaks in the system. The No. 1 engine under cover sub-assembly and V-bank cover must be installed afterward.
