How to remove the rear shock absorber on 2008 Toyota Corolla?

First disconnect the rear wheel and spare wheel cover assembly before starting the rear shock absorber removal process. First remove both the rear floor finish plate followed by the luggage compartment trim cover inner LH. The rear axle beam assembly should be supported while you use a jack before you uninstall the 2 nuts and bolt followed by the shock absorber nut and washer. The Special Service Tool 09727-30021 should be used to compress the coil spring during rear shock absorber assembly removal while avoiding damage by using an impact wrench. The 6 mm hexagon wrench allows you to hold the piston rod and remove the nut after which you can take off the support plate, cushion, spring bracket, upper insulator, suspension support, spring bumper and coil spring in sequence.
