2008 Toyota Camry Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install a Power Steering Pump on 2008 Toyota Camry?
A: You should first install temporary bolts at the vane pump assembly before installing it. Special Service Tool: 09249-63010 should be used to tighten the 2 bolts by applying torque measurements of 29 Nm (294 kgf-cm, 21 ft-lbf) when using the tool or 43 Nm (439 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf) when not using it. The tool requires a torque wrench with a 300 mm (11.81 in.) fulcrum for precision. Fasten the power steering fluid pressure switch connector afterward install the new gasket to the pressure feed tube assembly before connecting it to the vane pump assembly using the union bolt with an applied torque of 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft-lbf). The stopper of the pressure feed tube assembly needs to maintain a secure connection with the vane pump assembly. Secure the No. 1 fluid reservoir pump hose to the vane pump assembly by installing the clip on the mark while routing the hose to the rear part of the vehicle before maximum extension. The technical procedure includes adding power steering fluid followed by fluid bleeding before checking the fluid level and searching for leaks. Installation of the fan and generator V belt comes first in this sequence. Finish the installation process by torquing the front fender apron seal RH to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf) then connect the engine under cover RH along with the front wheel RH.
