2008 Toyota Avalon Exhaust Pipe Parts Q&A
Q: How to install the exhaust pipe on 2008 Toyota Avalon?
A: Start the 2GR-FE engine exhaust pipe installation by putting the exhaust tail pipe baffle groove where it matches the exhaust pipe tail projection after you connect the 5 exhaust pipe supports and attach the 2 exhaust pipe tails. First install two bolting points of 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf) torque between the exhaust pipe center and the exhaust pipe damper. This process must be followed by applying new gaskets and connecting 2 exhaust pipe supports between them before securing the exhaust pipe center to the 2 exhaust pipe tails. Then tighten the 4 nuts with 43 Nm (438 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf) torque. Begin by installing 3 new gaskets to exhaust pipe fronts then use 2 nuts and 2 bolts to fasten the exhaust manifolds and pipe fronts at 62 Nm (632 kgf-cm, 46 ft-lbf) torque. After that, join the exhaust pipe front to center utilising 2 nuts and 2 bolts at 56 Nm (571 kgf-cm, 41 ft-lbf) torque. The rear exhaust pipe No. 1 support bracket can be installed using 2 bolts at 33 Nm (337 kgf-cm, 24 ft-lbf) torque while maintaining proper bracket orientation before adding front exhaust pipe No. 1 support bracket with matching 2 nuts at this torque value. Place and tighten the 2 heated oxygen sensors (bank 1, 2 sensor 2) to 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf) using a torque converter while attaching their corresponding connectors. Exhaust gas leaks should be checked following installation while necessary areas need tightening until leaks stop and damaged parts require replacement.
