2008 Toyota Avalon Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to install the vacuum brake booster on 2008 Toyota Avalon?
A: The installation process of the vacuum brake booster begins with connecting the lock nut and brake master cylinder push rod clevis to the brake booster assembly while applying temporary tightening to these components before a complete lock nut tightness and pedal height adjustment. Squeeze a new brake booster gasket to the brake booster assembly before applying 4 nuts that need a torque of 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) while being cautious of brake line damage. Install the push rod pin together with a new clip after applying lithium soap base glycol grease to its pin and connecting the brake master cylinder push rod clevis to the brake pedal sub-assembly. First install the brake pedal return spring while subsequently installing the brake master cylinder sub-assembly. The vacuum hose should be connected to the brake booster assembly then fastened with a clip. You need to start by filling the brake fluid reservoir then proceed with bleeding the brake master cylinder followed by the brake line and brake actuator (if VSC is present) followed by a leak inspection of brake fluid. Examine the reservoir fluid level before evaluating and setting the correct heights for brake pedals and adjusting pedal free play together with reserve distance measurements. Place the air cleaner components then add the air cleaner cap with its hose before mounting the cowl top panel using 4 bolts and 2 nuts tightened up to 80 Nm (816 kgf-cm, 59 ft-lbf). Finish the wiper system installation by placing the wiper motor with links and the ventilator louvers on top and both wiper arms and their blades (Right-hand and Left-hand).
