2008 Toyota Avalon Speed Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to install the rear speed sensor on 2008 Toyota Avalon?
A: Before installing the rear speed sensor technicians should clean both the axle hub contact surface and new skid control sensor to prevent foreign matter attachment to the sensor rotor. Start by positioning the skid control sensor onto the axle hub with its connector oriented properly. Use Special Service Tool: 09830-36010 09950-60010 along with a press to mount the skid control sensor onto the axle hub while avoiding direct hammer contact and ensuring the sensor detection area remains free of foreign substances and pressing it in straight and slow strokes. Position the rear axle hub & bearing assembly with 4 bolts which need torquing to 80 Nm (816 kgf-cm, 59 ft-lbf). Continue by installing the rear disc along with both components from the rear disc brake caliper assembly on the left-hand side. The skid control sensor connector should be connected after which you must install the rear wheel by applying torque at 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf). The inspection of the rear wheel alignment and ABS speed sensor signal must be completed as the final step.
