2008 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to install windshield glass on 2008 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Start glass windshield installation by applying Primer G to install parts of WINDSHIELD GLASS NO. 2 STOPPER and permit it to dry for 3 minutes before adding new stoppers to the glass. The vehicle body now needs two new stoppers mounted for WINDSHIELD GLASS NO. 1 STOPPER. The installation process of WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM requires an application of Primer G on its installation section followed by a three-minute drying period before application of new adhesive strips which should not cover stopper areas. The installation of WINDSHIELD MOULDING OUTER UPPER requires application of Primer G along both glass edges and touching surfaces then waits for 3 minutes drying time before attaching the moulding. The contact surface of vehicle bodies requires shaping that involves removing rough adhesive while cleaning it with a shop rag. Use a suction cup to apply the glass while maintaining a flat contact surface and write down reference marks before uninstalling the glass. After applying Primer M to the exposed vehicle body for 3 minutes you should apply Primer G on the glass edge and contact area before it dries again. Cut the cartridge nozzle of the adhesive (Part No.08850-00801 or equivalent) before loading it into the sealer gun and then coating the glass surface with adhesive. The glass should be pressed into place when lined up against the reference marks and then simply pushed along the rim to ensure stopper attachment. Check the vehicle body clearance during this step. The front surface needs light pressure for a proper fit before trimming off any remaining adhesive with a scraper while refraining from driving the vehicle during the minimum specified time. The final step should be a leak test after adhesive hardening followed by sealing any discovered leaks with auto glass sealer.
