2007 Toyota 4Runner Windshield Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install windshield glass on 2007 Toyota 4Runner?
A: Begin removing windshield glass by taking out the roof headlining assembly through steps that include disconnecting all pieces like the front Weather Strips, assist grips, front pillar garnishes, visors and their holders, plus the roof console box assembly. Use tools to disassemble both front wiper arm head caps along with wiper arms (left and right) to remove the inner rear view mirror assembly and cowl top ventilator louver. Cut off the windshield moulding from the outside parts (LH and RH) and outer upper moulding by using a precise knife approach that does not harm the car body. Disconnect the deicer connector when removing it. Put a fine piano wire inside the vehicle while passing it between the glass and body. Secure both ends onto wooden blocks then insulate the vehicle's exterior with tape. Move the piano wire through the vehicle's adhesive and stoppers to cut them before taking off the glass with the suction cup while keeping most adhesive in place. Remove glass damage using glass scrapers and repair all stickers before wiping the rim edges with white gasoline following the scrape. Apply Primer G to the installation part of new windshield glass No. 2 stoppers and wait three minutes for drying before installing two stoppers to the glass panel. Put two fresh stoppers on the vehicle body to start installing windshield glass No. 1. Apply Primer G to the installation zone on the new windshield dam and let it dry before putting in place two-piece double-sided tape at every dam location except the stopper positions. Before setting the outer upper moulding apply Primer G on both the glass edge and contact surface. Smooth the contact surface of the vehicle body with windshield adhesive still in place before you put the glass in position using a suction cup while checking for smooth contacts. Before installing the glass remove it and apply Primer M to the exposed body of the vehicle followed by coating the glass edge and surface contact with Primer G. Load adhesive (Part No.08850-00801 or equal) into a sealer gun with this ready insert the cartridge nozzle and apply the adhesive to the glass surface until complete. Put the glass in place according to markup lines then push it along the edge and trim away remaining adhesive. Verify any leaks then use auto glass sealer on the hardened adhesive.
