• Q: How to remove the throttle body assembly on 2008 Scion xD?

  A: Draining the engine coolant should be the first step before tackling the removal process of the throttle body assembly from the 2ZR-FE engine control system. The second stage requires removal of the No. 2 cylinder head cover. Users must disconnect the wire harness clamp after breaking the mass air flow meter connector to take off the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with hose. The process includes disconnection of the No. 2 ventilation hose and hose clamp loosening while unlocking 2 clamps to complete the removal. The technician must first remove the throttle body connector followed by the water by-pass hose then disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose. Uninstall the throttle body assembly by eliminating its 2 bolts and 2 nuts followed by removing the gasket from the intake manifold.
